and it's supposed to be huge and unruly by now, producing many crops, and providing me with lots of weeding, picking, and cooking opportunities.

But instead its small.
With small veggies hanging on for dear life.
Giving me very small nibbles to eat.

Awesome! They look great in your garden. I've got to say that mine isn't doing too well either. I have a few small tomatoes and that's about it. Thanks for posting about the signs!
Cute signs. You need to come here for some weed picking opportunities. I have tons, along with bugs in my garden (which I don't know how to treat without insecticides). My peppers are doing great, but I think the bugs and some animals are feasting on everything else.
